Texas A&M Accepted Into SEC
The Southeastern Conference has voted to accept Texas A&M University as a new menber beginning as early as next year but one more hurdle may be in the way before that becomes a reality.
University of Florida president Bernie Machen released a statement today on behalf of the SEC saying league officials had met in Atlanta on Sunday and voted to accept Texas A&M as a member of the league.
However, Baylor University is said to be standing in the way of the Texas A&M exit with a threatened lawsuit to stop the university from leaving the Big 12 Conference, the current league the Aggies play in now.
A conference call is scheduled for today for all members of the Big 12 Conference (10 teams) to discuss the issue further. The SEC will not follow through on allowing Texas A&M to enter the league until all legal issues are resolved and things seem to be on hold as of now.
