- Former Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor was selected in the third round of the NFL Supplemental Draft Monday by the Oakland Raiders. The team says it regards him as a quarterback prospect at least for now but he will have to miss the first five games of the season due to suspension.
- The San Francisco 49ers and the Oakland Raiders may no longer play an annual preseason game after the long time rivals saw violence occur at last week’s game in San Francisco where fans got into several fights in the stands and some others were shot.
- The University of Miami is reportedly looking into the eligibility of 15 of its current players in light of allegations made by convicted Ponzi scheme investor Nevin Shapiro that some of the current players on the team received improper benefits from him. The names of the players have been released by the school and most of them would be regarded as major contributors if they were to play.
