- Adam Scott wins the Bridgestone Invitational PGA event in Akron, Ohio with the Tiger Woods dismissed caddie Steve Williams on his bag. Woods finished tied for 37th.
- Brad Keselowski wins the NASCAR race in Pennsylvania on Sunday at Pocono Raceway, winning in strange fashion because he competed with a broken ankle. He wins for the first time since winning in Kansas in June. Kyle Busch was second and Kurt Busch finishes third.
- The Oakland Raiders have signed former Gator wide receiver Chad Jackson. Teams are still adding and subtracting players getting ready for their first exhibition games this week.
- And the NFL’s Pro Football Hall of Fame officially has new members after induction ceremonies this weekend. Among those enshrined were running back Marshall Faulk, defensive back Deion Sanders, defensive lineman Richard Dent and linebacker Chris Hanburger.
