Braves Beat Marlins Again As Uggla Hit Streak Continues
The Atlanta Braves continue to lead the wild card race by four games in the National League after beating the Florida Marlins 4-3 Tuesday night.
In the game, second baseman Dan Uggla was only 1 for 6 but the hit extends his hitting streak to 30 games.
In other National League action, Chien-Ming Wang got a win on the mound as Washington downs Chicago 3-1; New York rallies to beat San Diego 5-4; Colorado downs Cincinnati 3-2; San Francisco blanks Pittsburgh 6-0 and Arizona stays a half game back of the Giants in the NL West with an 11-9 win over Houston. Philadelphia nips LA 2-1 and red hot Milwaukee downs St.Louis 5-3.
In the American League, James Shields tosses a complete game as Tampa Bay downs Kansas City 4-0. Shields leads the big leagues with eight complete games on the year.
In other AL action, Boston extends its lead over New York to two and a half games in the AL East with a 4-3 win over Minnesota while the Yanks lost at home to Los Angeles 6-4.
Texas stays a game and a half ahead of LA in the AL West with a 7-6 win over Seattle. Oakland downs Toronto 4-1; Chicago downs Baltimore 4-3 and Cleveland gets a big win over Detroit 3-2 to move to within three games of the Tigers in the AL Central.
