The Tampa Bay Rays used a five run ninth inning rally to defeat the Kansas City Royals 8-7 Wednesday night in St. Petersburg.
Trailing 7-3 going to the ninth inning, the Rays rallied to win to move them eight games over the .500 mark.
In other American League games, Minnesota downs Boston 5-2 and New York beats Los Angeles 9-3 to move the Yanks to within a game and a half of the Red Sox in the AL East. Seattle downs Texas 4-2 to keep the Angels and a game and a half behind Texas in the AL West.
In the AL Central, Cleveland moves to within two games of division leading Detroit with a 10-3 win over the Tigers. Chicago stays four back after losing 6-4 to Baltimore. Toronto beat Oakland 8-4.
In the National League, Dan Uggla has now hit in 31 straight games as Atlanta beats Florida 6-2 to complete a three game sweep. In other NL games, Philadelphia crawls back from a 6-0 hole to beat Los Angeles 9-8; Chicago downs Washington 4-2; Cincinnati edges Colorado 3-2; San Diego downs New York 9-5; Pittsburgh beats San Francisco 9-2 and Arizona downs Houston 6-3 to move the D’Backs a half game ahead of the Giants in the NL West. Red hot Milwaukee downs St.Louis 5-1.
