Atlanta Braves second baseman Dan Uggla’s hitting streak is now over after he went o for 3 in a 6-5 loss to the Chicago Cubs on Sunday. Uggla’s streak ends at 33 games. Despite the loss, Atlanta still leads the National League wild card race.
In other NL games, Arizona stays two games up on San Francisco in the NL West; the D’Backs beat New York 5-3 for their sixth straight win while the Giants keep pace with a 5-2 win over Florida. Milwaukee stays five up on St.Louis in the NL Central; the Brewers down Pittsburgh 2-1 while the Cardinals beat Colorado 6-2. LA blanks Houston 7-9 and San Diego downs Cincinnati 7-3.
In the American League, Seattle downs Boston 5-3 to cut Boston’s lead over New York in the AL Central to a half game; the Yankees were rained out with Tampa Bay.
Detroit leads Cleveland by two and a half games in the Central. The Tigers lost 8-5 to Baltimore while the Indians were rained out with Minnesota. Texas now leads Los Angeles by four games in the West; the Rangers beat Oakland 7-6 to complete a series sweep while LA loses 5-4 to Toronto. Chicago also beat Kansas City 6-2.
