Boston keeps pace with a 4-3 win over Kansas City. Cleveland moves to within a game and a half of Detroit in the AL Central with a 4-2 win over Chicago and Toronto blanks Oakland 7-0.
In the National League, former Vanderbilt pitcher Mike Minor outpitches Tim Lincecum as Atlanta edges San Francisco 1-0. A Chipper Jones homer is all the support Minor would need to get the win.
In other NL action, Clayton Kershaw wins his 15th game as Los Angeles cools off Milwaukee 5-1; Washington beats Cincinnati 3-1; Philadelphia beats Arizona 4-1 while San Diego tops Florida 3-1.
