Pat Summit Has Early Onset Dementia Symptoms
Legendary University of Tennessee women’s basketball coach Pat Summit said she has been diagnosed with early onset dementia, the Alzheimer’s type.
Despite this, Summit says she plans to continue coaching for her 38th season at UT.
Summit said she thought she was having memory issues as a side effect to medicine she was taking to treat arthritis but doctors advised her to seek other medical attention and she finally went to the Mayo Clinic for more extensive tests and that’s where the diagnosis took place.
Summit has told her players and they have pledged their full support to her in her fight against the disease.
