Red Sox Take Over First Place in AL East
The Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees are still tied for first place in the American League Eastern division after wins on Wednesday.
Boston hammered Texas 13-2 while New York lost 6-4 to Oakland. Both teams are back in action today. Meanwhile the Los Angeles Angels move to within two games of Texas in the AL West as Jered Weaver gets his 15th win 8-0 over Chicago.
In other AL games, Toronto edges Kansas City 4-3; Seattle beats slumping Cleveland 9-2; Tampa Bay edges Detroit 3-2; and Baltimore beats Minnesota 6-1.
In the National League, Atlanta’s six game win streak is over as Chicago beats them 3-2.
In other action, Pittsburgh cools off Milwaukee 2-0; Los Angeles beats St.Louis 9-4; Florida and Cincinnati split a doubleheader; Colorado completes a sweep of Houston with a 7-6 win; New York downs Philadelphia 7-4 and Arizona stays two games up on San Francisco in the NL West as it downs Washington 4-2 and the Giants edge San Diego 2-1.
