An important member of Tennessee’s football program is dismissed and the Peyton Manning watch continues to highlight our Thursday Sports News And Notes….

  • University of Tennessee coach Derek Dooley has dismissed troubled safety Janzen Jackson from the team. Dooley did not specify the actions by Jackson that led to his dismissal.
  • Will Peyton Manning open the season for the Indianapolis Colts? He has a neck and nerve injury and he apparently will not play in the preseason. To get insurance, the Colts signed veteran Kerry Collins to a two year contract. Collins had announced his retirement at the end of last season but he is familiar with some of the coaches on the Colts staff.
  • GHS and Buchholz finished up preseason football work with a jamboree on Wednesday. The Purple Hurricanes beat Orlando Dr. Phillips 41-20 while Buchholz beat Apopka 20114 before losing 14-7 to North Marion. Tonight, Bradford County is scheduled to play at Union County in an exhibition game.
