Finally, Game Week For Gator Football!

After a long, hard fought summer camp, the Gator football team finally enters Game Week mode today as it gets ready for its season opener this Saturday at home against the Owls of Florida Atlantic University.

The Owls are coached by the legendary Howard Schnellenberger who has already announced this season will be his final one on the sidelines. The 77 year old practically build the Owls football program from scratch after coaching success in college and the NFL as well.

The Owls come off a 4-8 season a year ago while Florida will be playing in the coaching debut of new coach Will Muschamp.

The Gators were relatively fortunate in the injury department during training camp with tight end A.C. Leonard being the only one who is definitely out for the opener although wide receiver Omarius Hines and defensive back Jeremy Brown also could miss the first game because of injury.
