Diamondbacks Win Seventh Straight In MLB

The Arizona Diamondbacks have opened up a five game lead in the National League West after winning their seventh straight game, a 5-1 win over Colorado Monday night.

The second place Giants lost to Chicago 7-0 as Tim Lincecum took the loss. In other action, New York sweeps a doubleheader from Florida 2-1 and 5-1; Philadelphia nips Cincinnati 3-2 and Houston downs Pittsburgh 7-4. And Clayton Kershaw wins his 17th game as Los Angeles downs San Diego.

In the American League, Chicago blanks Minnesota 3-0 and moves within five games of AL Central leader Detroit after the Tigers lost 9-5 to Kansas City. In other games, Cleveland is five and a half back after edging Oakland 2-1; New York downs Baltimore 3-2 to move within a game and a half of Boston in the AL East. Toronto salvages one game of a four game tilt with Tampa Bay with a 7-3 win as Jose Bautista hits his 38th homer.

Texas leads Los Angeles by three and a half games in the AL West after the Angels lost 5-3 to Seattle.
