- Rain again ruined another day at the U.S. Open Tennis Championship and more rain is forecast for today in New York.
- In high school football tonight, St. Francis High School will host Tallahassee John Paul II at 7pm. St. Francis coach Matt Olesnevich once coached at the Tallahassee school.
- The University of Florida released its newest members of its athetic Hall of Fame; they include football player Alex Brown, soccer great Abby Wambach, basketball player Udonis Haslem, gymnastics great Kristin Guise and women’s tennis standout Stephanie Nickitas.
- In baseball, New York still leads Boston by two and a half games in the AL East after both teams lost Wednesday. Baltimore beat New York 5-4 and Toronto outslugged Boston 11-10. Tampa Bay beat Texas 5-4 while Los Angeles beat Seattle 3-1 to move the Angels to within two and a half games of Texas in the AL West. Philadelphia beat Atlanta to complete a three game sweep and New York nipped Florida 1-0.
