The Jacksonville Jaguars open the 2011 season with a home win, beating the Tennessee Titans 16-14 Sunday in Jacksonville.
The key to the win might have been the Jags defense that held Tennessee star running back Chris Johnson to just 24 yards on nine carries. Meanwhile the offense under new starting quarterback Luke McCown scored just enough points.
Tampa Bay lost to Detroit 27-20 as Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford threw for over 300 yards and three touchdowns.
In other Sunday games, Baltimore embarrassed Pittsburgh 35-7; the New York Jets rally to defeat Dallas 27-24; Arizona downs Carolina 28-21 despite Carolina quarterback Cam Newton throwing for over 400 yards and two touchdowns; Buffalo routs Kansas City 41-7; Cincinnati beats Cleveland 27-17; Houston beats Peyton Manning-less Indianapolis 34-7; Chicago dumps Atlanta 30-12; Philadelphia hammers St.Louis 31-13; San Diego rallies to beat Minnesota 24-17 and behind former Gator Rex Grossman Washington beats the New York Giants 28-14.
