- Tampa Bay completes a sweep of the Boston Red Sox, winning 9-1 on Sunday. The win moves the Rays to within three and a half games of Boston in the wild card chase. New York closer Mariano Rivera also notched his 599th career save Sunday as the Yankees beat Los Angeles.
- Former Gator tennis player Lisa Raymond makes history at the U.S. Open as she wins the doubles title, passing the great Billie Jean King as the oldest Grand Slam women’s doubles champion. Raymond is 38 years old as she teamed with Liezel Huber to win the doubles title, her third at the U.S. Open.
- Gator defensive lineman Sharif Floyd will be activated for Saturday’s game against Tennessee after serving a two game NCAA imposed penalty for accepting improper benefits.
