A new coach in the NBA and a new Gator back on a big league roster highlights today’s Sports News And Notes…

  • The Minnesota Timberwolves of the NBA have announced a contract agreement to hire Rick Adelman as their new coach; problem is the league is still in a lockout.
  • The Texas Rangers have activated former Gator pitcher Darren O’Day from the injured list as the Rangers push for the playoffs for the second straight year.
  • Gator linebacker Dee Finley will not be facing felony charges in the wake of his arrest on Monday. The State Attorney’s Office has reduced his charges from resisting arrest with violence to resisting arrest without violence which is a misdemeanor. There is still no word on his status for Saturday’s game against Tennessee.
  • Boise State has received additional sanctions from the NCAA including placing the school on probation for three years after violations were found in football and other sports. The football program got three scholarships taken away through the 2013-2014 season and other programs received sanctions because the school committed the alleged infractions over multiple years.
