Keys To A Gator Victory Over Tennessee

September 16, 2011

After both the Florida and Tennessee football teams opened their seasons with two wins over so-so competition, both are ready to open the SEC season on Saturday as the Gators host the Vols. You can catch all the action live starting with our First And Ten pregame show at 12:30pm. Here are some Keys To Victory for Florida…

  • Get Pressure On Bray. Tennessee quarterback Tyler Bray is playing with a lot of confidence right now and the Gators must find a way to pressure him and get in his face all day. If not, it could be a long afternoon for the Gators playing in the secondary because the Vols also have two terrific receivers in Da’Rick Rogers and Justin Hunter.
  • Confuse The Vols Up Front. On defense, coach Will Muschamp has talked a lot about playing a 4-3, or a 3-4 or even some other styles of defense to confuse the blocking schemes of offensive lines. The Vols, like the Gators, are a young football team and the hope is the Gator D can confuse the blocking schemes of the Vols up front to allow Florida to stop the run and get pressure on Bray.
  • Demps And Rainey. Memo to Charlie Weis, use these weapons well as you have the first two games of the season. Weis will dial up a game plan to use against a young Vols defense and Demps and Rainey need to be a big part of the equation.
  • Make Special Teams Special. Florida can be very explosive in the punt return and kickoff return game and many times a game can turn on a special teams play; we’ll see if that happens this week with Demps or Rainey or someone else returning kicks.
