September 27, 2011

The Tampa Bay Rays have come all the way back from a nine game September deficit in the American League wild card race.

The Rays beat New York 5-2 Monday while Boston lost to Baltimore 6-3 and now the Rays and Red Sox are tied for the wild card lead with two games to play.

The Los Angeles Angels were eliminated from the wild card race when they lost to Texas.

The Atlanta Braves are clinging to a one game National League wild card lead with two games to play; the Braves lost to Philadelphia 4-2 but St. Louis lost to Houston 5-4 to keep the Braves in the wild card lead.

In another baseball note, the Chicago White Sox have announced they are letting manager Ozzie Guillen out of his contract. Guillen won a World Series title with Chicago back in 2005.
