Brantley Out For LSU

October 3, 2011

Gator football coach Will Muschamp said Monday that starting quarterback John Brantley is out for this week’s LSU game with what he is describing as a lower leg injury. Muschamp would not elaborate on the injury at all.

Brantley went down with a leg injury at the end of the second quarter and did not return as Florida went on to lose 38-10 to Alabama. Brantley had played impressively in the game although he did throw an interception that was returned for a touchdown as well.

With the loss to Alabama, Florida falls five spots to 17th in the Associated Press Top 25 poll and to 18th in the USA Today Coaches poll.

Florida’s next opponent is unbeaten LSU in Baton Rouge; the Tigers come off a 35-7 home win over Kentucky last week. LSU is ranked number one in the AP poll and number two in the USA Today poll.
