Nelson Cruz hit the first ever walk off grand slam home run in American League Championship Series history to give the Texas Rangers a 7-3 win over the Detroit Tigers in Arlington on Monday.
Texas now leads the series 2-0 with Game 3 today in Detroit.
Cruz hit his shot in the bottom of the 11th inning to support a great job by the Texas bullpen which threw eight and a third innings of shutout relief. The homer was off Detroit’s Ryan Perry.
In the NLCS, Albert Pujols earned his nickname of the “Machine” as he goes 4 for 5 with a homer, three doubles and five rbi to lift the St.Louis Cardinals to a 12-3 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday.
That series is now tied at one game apiece and it moves to St.Louis on Wednesday night. Chris Carpenter throws for the Cardinals against Yovani Gallardo of Milwaukee.
