The Florida Gator football team continues to prepare for its Saturday road game against the Auburn Tigers.
Florida offensive coordinator Charlie Weis spoke to the media on Tuesday and said that freshmen quarterbacks Jeff Driskel and Jacoby Brissett were both taking reps in practice and that both could play against the Tigers. Weis said the ankle injury that kept Driskel from playing last week is no longer bothering him to where he would not be able to play.
For fans who want to see more of junior running back Mike Gillislee, you might get your chance for that this weekend. Weis and head coach Will Muschamp had praise for the way Gillislee ran the ball last week ( 9 carries, 56 yards) and he could get more chances to carry the ball this week especially if running back Jeff Demps is not fully recovered from an ankle injury that severely limited his action last week.
Meanwhile after what he called an examination of the position, Auburn coach Gene Chizik has elected to keep starting Barrett Trotter at quarterback for the Tigers. However, expect freshman Kiehl Frazier to play Saturday especially in wildcat type formations and plays.
Trotter and Frazier combined to go only 9 of 24 passing last week against Arkansas.
