Tigers And Brewers Get Baseball Playoff Wins
The Detroit Tigers got a gutsy pitching performance from ace Justin Verlander and used some timely hitting to beat the Texas Rangers 7-5 Thursday to stay alive in the American League Championship Series. Texas still leads 3-2 with Game 6 in Texas Saturday.
Verlander threw over 130 pitches and pitched into the eighth inning, giving up four runs while a tired and spend Tiger bullpen hung on for the win. The Tigers hit four homers in the game, two by Delmon Young.
In the National League Championship Series, Milwaukee draws even with St.Louis with a 4-2 win in St. Louis. Lefty Randy Wolf pitched seven effective innings for Milwaukee as it now prepares for Game 5 in St.Louis tonight with Zach Greinke pitching for Milwaukee against Jaime Garcia.
