After a bye week in which hopefully some injuries have been healed, the Gator football team prepares for its annual game with Georgia this Saturday.
One of the key injuries is to senior quarterback John Brantley who hopes to be back this week from a high ankle sprain he suffered against Alabama. There is no word yet on his status and true freshmen quarterbacks Jacoby Brissett and Jeff Driskey have supposedly been splitting reps in practice.
Florida may have to find a way to throw the football more consistently as without Brantley, teams are loading the box to stop the run, inviting the young quarterbacks to throw. If Brantley can’t go, this will again be a big challenge for the Gator offensive staff.
And both lines of scrimmage have not been consistent as well although defensively Florida did a better job on defense against Auburn, holding a good running back in Michael Dyer to 73 yards. But the challenge for the Gator defense Saturday is to stop Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray, arguably the best passer in the league, and a talented freshman running back in Isaiah Crowell.
