- Ole Miss football coach Houston Nutt will be relieved of his duties at the end of this season. And the Rebels also had their athletic director Pete Boone resign, effective at the end of 2012.
- The mess at Penn State University continues as athletic director Tim Curley has been placed on administrative leave and others have been let go in the wake of a growing scandal at the school. Longtime former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky is accused of child abuse and the state police commissioner has stated that football coach Joe Paterno did not do enough to try and stop the suspected child abuse.
- The Chicago Bears beat the Philadelphia Eagles 30-24 on Monday Night Football. Running back Matt Forte ran for 133 yards despite a couple of turnovers and the Bears rallied from a fourth quarter deficit to win. The Bears are 5-3 while the Eagles fall to 3-5.
