Paterno Forced To Leave Penn State?
As the scandal grows around the Penn State athletic program amid allegations a former long time assistant coach had sexual relations with young boys, it is being reported that long time Penn State football coach Joe Paterno may be on his way out.
A press conference to be held by Paterno was abruptly called off yesterday but Paterno’s son said there may be one held today. Paterno has not been charged in the scandal but reports have surfaced that Penn State board of trustees officials will meet later this week to discuss Paterno’s future.
Several published reports say Paterno will in all probability not coach past this year if he is allowed to stay on to finish this season.
Penn State has a very important home game this week against nationally ranked Nebraska to play amid all the allegations. Still, about a thousand or so students gathered outside Paterno’s house last night to express support for the 84 year old Paterno and he addressed the crowd and expressed his thanks for the support.
