A lot of things to discuss today in Friday Sports News And Notes…
- Some local high school football teams were in action last night in our area. Fleming Island rolls over Eastside 56-6; Hawthorne loses to Jacksonville Providence 21-13 and PK Yonge falls to Keystone Heights 56-14. More games are on tap for tonight.
- In college football on Thursday, 10th ranked Virginia Tech beats Georgia Tech 37-26 nd 11th ranked Houston pounds Tulane 73-17 as quarterback Case Keenum throws three more touchdown passes for the Cougars.
- The NBA and its players continue to talk but no agreement has been reached on a new collective bargaining agreement.
- Penn State will now allow wide receivers coach Mike McQueary to coach Saturday against Nebraska because of death threats made against him. And long time assistant coach Tom Bradley will take over as interim coach for the fired Joe Paterno.
- The Gator soccer and volleyball teams are in action this weekend. The Gator soccer team opens NCAA Tournament play Saturday with a home match against Florida Gulf Coast you can here on WRUF Sports Radio 850 starting at 6:50pm. Florida volleyball has two road matches at LSU Friday and Arkansas Sunday and both those matches can also be heard on WRUF.
