Gator Men's Basketball Wins; Women Play Tonight
The 11th ranked Gator men’s basketball team showed no hangover from a big win against Texas A&M on Saturday as it blasts Mississippi Valley State 82-54 Monday in Gainesville.
Gator coach Billy Donovan admitted he reminded his team about what happened last year coming off a big win against Kansas State when the Gators in a short turnaround got upset by Jacksonville University.
That scenario did not repeat itself Monday as Florida raced to a 30-6 lead to blow out the Delta Devils early. All five Gator starters also scored in double figures, led by senior Erving Walker’s 19 points.
Meanwhile the Gator women’s team is back in action tonight when it hosts Charleston Southern. Southern is 6-3 on the year while the Gators are 7-3 and coming off an 11 day break from competition.
The Gators are hosting the Gator Holiday Classic with Duquesne and Maine also playing; the winners of that game and the Gators game will play tomorrow night.
