Gator Men's Hoops Faces UAB Tonight

January 3, 2012

The 14th ranked Gator men’s basketball team faces its last non conference opponent before starting SEC play tonight when it hosts Alabama Birmingham; you can hear the game live on WRUF Sports Radio 850 starting at 6:25pm.

Florida will face a UAB team that made the NCAA Tournament a year ago as a first four at large team. The Blazers finished 22-9 a year ago but return only two starters from that squad.

A player to watch for UAB is 6’10” senior center Cameron Moore, who averages a double-double at 14.6 points a game and 11.5 rebounds. He is a legitimate candidate for Conference USA Player of the Year honors. Sophomore forward Jordan Swing averages 10.7 points a game and is the only other Blazer scoring in double figures.

Florida comes into the game off a home win against Yale and stands 11-3 on the season while the Blazers are 5-7 on the year.

The Gators will open SEC play this Saturday with a road game at Tennessee.
