Gator Basketball Teams In Action This Weekend

Both Gator basketball teams are in action this weekend facing SEC opponents. The Gator men will face Tennessee on the road Saturday in a game you can hear on WRUF Sports Radio 850 starting at 10:25am.

Florida and the Vols will open SEC play with this game; Florida is 13th ranked in the country and is 12-3 on the year, coming off a home win earlier this week against UAB. Tennessee is 7-7 under new coach Cuonzo Martin and the Vols come off a road loss by 18 points to Memphis earlier in the week.

Tennessee has had trouble scoring at times this year and it is led by 6’1” sophomore guard Tre Golden averages 14 points a game while the inside presence is provided by 6’7” junior Jeronne Mayman who averages 11 points and almost eight rebounds a game.

The Gator women meanwhile bring a 1-1 SEC record into a Sunday home game with South Carolina. Florida comes off a five point road win at Ole Miss on Thursday while South Carolina comes off an impressive win against Vanderbilt when it caused 26 turnovers to be committed by the Commodores.

Carolina is 2-0 in SEC play for the first time in 10 years and comes into Gainesville having seven games in a row.
