Giants, Patriots Advance To Super Bowl In NFL Play

January 23, 2012

The New York Giants and the New England Patriots have advanced to the Super Bowl after getting wins in their conference title games on Sunday.

New York beats the San Francisco 49ers 20-17 in overtime on the road to advance to win the NFC title. The Giants got a game winning 31 yard field goal by Lawrence Tynes to advance after the 49ers gave the Giants great field position when they fumbled a kickoff return in overtime and Tynes made the Niners pay.

Meanwhile New England holds on to beat Baltimore 23-20 to win the AFC title. In a tightly played game throughout, the Ravens had the ball late with a chance to win the game or tie it but had to settle for a 32 yard field goal try to tie the game and send it to overtime.

However, kicker Billy Cundiff shanked the kick wide left to send the Patriots to the Super Bowl and to a rematch of the Super Bowl of 2008.
