The Gator football program signs 23 student athletes to national letters of intent for the 2012 class with heavy emphasis on defense and the line of scrimmage.
The Gators might not be done yet however; wide receiver Stefon Diggs still has his decision to make about which school he will attend and Florida is among his favorites.
With the athletes who have signed, the Gator football staff addressed a need that coach Will Muschamp said existed on both lines of scrimmage as Florida signed two offensive linemen and eight defensive linemen.
Muschamp also said he wants to try to sign a quarterback in every class and that offensive coordinator Brent Pease pushed hard to sign one in this class and that got done when former Penn State commit Skyler Mornhinweg signed with the Gators; he is the son of a long time NFL coach.
The Gators probably have a consensus top five class signed but as Muschamp says, a class can’t really be evaluated until two or three years down the road. Florida did miss out on some prospects on the first day of signing but the class overall is still very solid even though needs still exist seemingly at wide receiver, offensive line and at running back.
