Gator Baseball Looks To Avenge Championship Loss As It Plays South Carolina
The number one ranked Florida baseball team will face a familiar opponent tonight when they face the number six ranked South Carolina Gamecocks. The Gamecocks are coming off a strong 2011 campaign, in which the team swept UF two games to none and won the College World Series for a second straight season.
This year however, is a new season, and Florida junior catcher Mike Zunino says he will worry about this year and not dwell on last year.
Florida enters the game at 20-1 and riding an 18 game winning streak while South Carolina is 16-5 after being swept on the road by Kentucky.
In Florida’s last game, the Gators topped Samford 5-3. Senior infielder/outfielder Preston Tucker says that game was a warm-up to tonight’s SEC matchup.
