Number One Gators Baseball Beats FSU For Second Time This Season

The Gators baseball team beats rival Florida State for the second time this season after winning Tueaday night 4-1 in Jacksonville.   Florida was down 1-0 in the sixth inning, but tallied three runs with the help of a two run triple by freshman Casey Turgeon and an RBI single by junior Vickash Ramjit. The Gators’ bullpen added five and a third innings of scoreless relief as well.

In the top of the sixth, the Seminoles loaded the bases but Gators freshman pitcher Johnny Magliozzi induced an inning ending double play to set up the Gators’ rally as he picks up the win while junior Austin Maddox threw a 1-2-3 ninth for his eighth save this season.  Ramjit added an insurance RBI in the eighth inning.

Senior Greg Larson, who started the game for Florida, matched his career best total of four strikeouts for the third time this season. Senior Preston Tucker and freshman Taylor Gushue drew two walks apiece, while Turgeon and senior Daniel Pigott each had their first triple of the season.

The Gators continue their eight game road trip with a three game series at sixteenth ranked Ole Miss beginning Friday night.   You can hear all the games live on Country 103-7 The Gator.
