New Members Of Basketball Hall Of Fame Announced; Tuesday Sports News And Notes

There are some new members in the basketball Hall of Fame today and an SEC coach is fine after a motorcycle crash in our Tuesday Sports News And Notes…

** Five time All Star Reggie Miller and great player and coach Don Nelson are among a dozen new members of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced on Monday.   Among others going in are center Ralph Sampson, forward Jamaal Wilkes and longtime referee Hank Nichols.   Five members had been announced earlier.

** Arkansas football coach Bobby Petrino is recovering today from injuries he suffered in a motorcycle accident that required being put in the hospital.   He is said to be in stable condition after apparently veering off a two lane road Sunday.

** Mississippi State has hired Clemson assistant Rick Ray to be its new men’s basketball coach, replacing the retiring Rick Stansbury.   He was the top assistant at Clemson for the past two seasons but he will inherit a team that lost a lot of talent from a group that did not make the NCAA Tournament amid a late season collapse.

** Auburn has hired Terri Williams-Flournoy to be its new women’s basketball coach, replacing Nell Fortner who resigned and longtime Tennessee women’s assistant and former Gator coach Mickie DeMoss has left the Vols for a job in the WNBA.
