The sixth ranked Florida softball team will battle in-state rival Florida State Wednesday evening in Tallahassee. The Gators are 31-4 (12-2 SEC) and are coming off their fifth consecutive conference series win.
The Noles also got a conference series win this weekend after taking the rubber game against North Carolina on Monday.
Florida is batting .322 this season compared to just .276 for FSU and the Gators will look to get some offense going after the last matchup between the two teams featured only one run in a 1-0 Florida win last May.
With two top teams playing within a couple hours of each other, the title of “Best Team in Florida” will be on the line tonight. Junior catcher Kelsey Horton says tonight will feature both teams at their best.
Florida leads the series 15-13, but the record stands at an even 7-7 when playing in Tallahassee. At 6 tonight, Florida looks to take the tiebreaker.
The Gators will return home and get ready for another conference series as Florida hosts Ole Miss this weekend.
