The third ranked Gators softball team lost 2-0 to the UCF Golden Knights in Orlando Wednesday night in front of 747 fans, the second largest crowd in UCF softball history. The Gators fall to 35-5 on the season, while the Knights improve their record to 30-10.
UCF was led by pitcher Mackenzie Audas who struck out 11 and walked three in a complete game two-hit shutout.
Florida’s offense could not get anything going against Audas. The only bright spot for the Orange and Blue was senior center fielder Michelle Moultrie who went 2 for 3, contributing Florida’s only two hits on the night.
However, Florida sophomore ace Hannah Rogers also pitched very well in a losing effort giving up just two runs in the first inning, while striking out seven and only allowing one walk and three hits. The loss drops her record to 20-3.
The Gators will be in action again on Friday when they begin an 11 game homestand with a three game series against the Auburn Tigers. Florida has won six consecutive SEC series.
