The number 2 Florida Gators baseball team defeated the Bethune Cookmam Wildcats 10-1 at McKethan Stadium Wednesday night, improving their record to 32-10. The win comes after the Gators’ 5-3 loss to the USF Bulls on Tuesday night.
Florida’s offense was clicking on all cylinders as they scored in seven consecutive innings. Freshman second baseman Casey Turgeon led the Gators offensive onslaught going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases. Senior Preston Tucker went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a home run while freshman Brian Sedell also homered in the contest.
Probably the most important performance of the game for the Gators came from sophomore pitcher Karsten Whitson. Whitson has battled injury for much of season but had a strong outing Wednesday pitching four scoreless innings and only giving up four hits. Tucker says its good to have Whitson healthy again.
The Gators will be in action again this weekend when they host the Arkansas Razorbacks. Florida head coach Kevin O’Sullivan knows beating Arkansas will be tough, especially because of their stellar pitching staff.
