The Florida baseball team faces elimination in the SEC Tournament after losing 2-1 to red hot Vanderbilt Thursday night in Hoover, Alabama.
Gator starter Hudson Randall pitched well but he gave up a two run triple to Riley Reynolds in the fourth inning and the Commodores made it stand up; the only Gator run scored on a Preston Tucker sacrifice fly in the seventh inning.
The Gators now face South Carolina, a 5-3 winner over Auburn that eliminated the Tigers from the tournament. ** The Gator lacrosse team tries for a national championship starting today in Stony Brook, New York as it plays Syracuse today. You can hear the game live at 5:20pm on Saturday on WRUF Sports Radio 850. If Florida wins, it will play either Maryland or Northwestern for the championship.
** The Gator women’s golf team is in a tie for 11th place at the NCAA Championships being held in Tennessee; Florida has steadily moved up after being in 18th place after the first day of competition. The Gator men start NCAA play Tuesday.
** The Gator track teams are in the NCAA East Regional.
