The Gator baseball team begins its journey to return to the College World Series for a third straight year as the overall number one national seed as the NCAA Tournament field was released today.
Florida will play four seed Bethune Cookman on Friday in Gainesville while two seed Georgia Tech plays three seed College of Charleston. The other top eight national seeds in order are UCLA, Florida State, Baylor, Oregon, North Carolina, LSU and two time defending national champion South Carolina.
Miami is also hosting a regional as a number one seed in Coral Gables; the Hurricanes play four seed Stony Brook, a team that won 46 games this year. The two seed is UCF and the Golden Knights will play Missouri State.
FSU has a tough regional on paper; the top seeded Seminoles play four seed Alabama Birmingham while red hot Mississippi State, the SEC Tournament champs, faces a Samford team that can hit well and that beat the Gators earlier this season.
Eight SEC teams made the field of 64 as Florida, Mississippi State, South Carolina, LSU, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Arkansas and Vanderbilt are all looking to make the trip to Omaha.
