Weaver Wins 15th As Angels Blank A’s In MLB

Los Angeles Angels pitcher Jered Weaver becomes the first pitcher to win 15 games after he blanks the Oakland A’s 4-0 Monday night; Weaver is now 15-1 this season.

In other American League games, Justin Verlander struck out 14 and won his 12th game as Detroit downs New York 7-2; Minnesota hammers fading Cleveland 14-3; Chicago stays hot with a 4-2 win over Kansas City; Boston downs Texas 9-2 and Baltimore moves to within a half game of the wild card lead with a 3-1 win over Seattle.

In the National League, Milwaukee cools off Cincinnati 6-3 and Pittsburgh gains a game on the Reds in the NL Central with a 4-0 win against Arizona.   Atlanta beats Philadelphia 6-1 as Ben Sheets wins again for the Braves on the mound.   St.Louis downs San Francisco 8-2 while Colorado blanks Los Angeles 2-0.
