The Atlanta Braves earn a split of a four game series with the San Francisco Giants after a 7-1 win on Sunday. Tim Hudson wins his 13th game to help the Braves a two and a half game wild card lead over St.Louis. Atlanta is at San Diego tonight.
In other National League action, Washington’s lead over the Braves shrunk to four and a half games after losing to Philadelphia 4-1 to complete a series sweep. The Nats are off today. St.Louis has the second wild card lead after an 8-2 win over Cincinnati; Miami downs Los Angeles 6-2 and San Diego, New York, Chicago and Milwaukee are also winners.
In the American League, New York beats Cleveland 4-2 to give the Yankees a four game lead over Tampa Bay in the AL East. New York plays at home tonight while the Rays, the wild card leader, will be at Texas.
In other games, Chicago now leads Detroit by a half game in the AL Central after a 4-3 win over Seattle while the Tigers down Los Angeles 5-2. Minnesota beat Texas 6-5 and Boston downs Kansas City 8-6.
