Baltimore is only a game behind Oakland after losing to Chicago 8-1 as the White Sox increase their lead in the AL Central to three games over Detroit, a 1-0 loser to Kansas City. In other games, New York loses 8-5 to Toronto; Minnesota hammers Seattle 10-0 and Los Angeles rips Boston 10-3.
In the National League, Atlanta is beaten by San Diego 8-2 as the red hot Padres have won 9 of their last 10 games. The Braves maintain a two and a half game lead in the NL wild card over St.Louis as the Cardinals lose 5-0 to Pittsburgh.
