The Atlanta Braves complete a road sweep of the New York Mets with a 3-2 win on Sunday. The win gives Atlanta a five and a half game lead in the National League wild card race and puts them five and a half games behind Washington in the NL East as well.
In other NL games, San Francisco blanks Los Angeles 4-0 to give the Giants a five and a half game lead over the Dodgers in the NL West. Houston beats Cincinnati 5-1; Chicago completes a sweep of Pittsburgh with a 4-2 win; St.Louis nips Milwaukee 5-4; Philadelphia takes two from Colorado 3-2 and 7-4 and Miami blanks Washington 8-0 and San Diego tops Arizona 8-2.
In the American League, New York takes a one game lead over Baltimore in the AL East with a 13-3 win over the O’s. Tampa Bay is two games out after a 6-0 shutout win over Texas behind starter James Shields.
Oakland has the wild card lead by a game and a half over Baltimore after sweeping Seattle 4-2. The Angels are only a game and a half back too after nipping Detroit 3-2. The Tigers are two games back of Chicago in the AL Central after the White Sox fall 2-1 to Kansas City; the Sox and the Tigers start a three game series tonight in Chicago. Oakland will be at Los Angeles as well.
In other games, Toronto stops Boston 4-3 and Minnesota edges Cleveland 8-7.
