The Major League Baseball pennant races are down to the last couple of weeks of the season with many tight races all around.
The New York Yankees own a one game lead in the American League East aafter beating Tampa Bay 6-4 Sunday. Baltimore is a game back after beating Oakland 9-5. The Rays are five games back. The O’s are at Seattle, New York is off while the Rays host Boston.
Chicago leads Detroit by two games in the AL Central. Cleveland beat Detroit 7-6 while Chicago pounds Minnesota 9-2; the leaders play today in Chicago.
Texas leads Oakland by three games in the AL West after the Rangers nip Seattle 2-1. Both the A’s and Rangers are off today. In the wild card, Oakland leads Baltimore by two games.
In the National League, Washington leads Atlanta by five and a half games in the NL East after the Braves dump the Nats 5-1 to complete a three game sweep. Atlanta is at Miami today while Washington is off. The other races see Cincinnati and San Francisco with big leads.
However, the wild card races are close. The Braves lead the wild card by by seven games over St.Louis and the Cardinals lead the second wild card by a game over Los Angeles.
