The 14th ranked Gator football team prepares for another SEC opponent this week when the Kentucky Wildcats come to Gainesville.
Kentucky comes off an overtime home loss to Western Kentucky and stands 1-2 on the season. While Florida is 3-0, the Gators hope to avoid a letdown after tough road wins at Texas A&M and Tennessee.
Florida has owned this series, winning every game since 1986 and some believe the seat is hot for Wildcats coach Joker Phillips who is only 12-16 overall in his third year as Kentucky’s head coach.
Kentucky does have an offense to contend with especially in its passing game but its defense is suspect, giving up 26 points a game.
Florida comes off a big time win against Tennessee where the offense bloomed, gaining 555 total yards with a variety of players contributing to the offensive cause. Quarterback Jeff Driskel threw for 219 yards and ran for 81 more, running back Mike Gillislee again ran for over 100 yards and Gator wide receivers like Frankie Hammond and all everything Trey Burton made big plays for touchdowns.
ESPN Radio 850/900 has live coverage of Saturday’s game starting with the First And Ten pregame show at 9:15am.
