** The Denver Broncos rally from a 24-0 deficit to defeat the San Diego Chargers 35-24 on Monday Night Football. Denver quarterback Peyton Manning threw three second half touchdowns while San Diego quarterback Phillip Rivers threw three interceptions in the same time frame.
** The Cincinnati Reds announce manager Dusty Baker has agreed to a two year contract extension; the Reds won the National League Central Division this year but were beaten by San Francisco in the second round of the playoffs.
** The NFL’s Baltimore Ravens lose star linebacker Ray Lewis for the season with an arm injury that could end the career of the 37 year old star. The Ravens also lose cornerback Lardarius Webb for the year with a knee injury.
** Gainesville High School is still number one in the latest State High School Football Poll. The Class 6A Hurricanes have a big district game this week against Ocala Forest. Columbia County is ranked seventh in the same classification. In Class 1A, Trenton is still number one with Union County at number two and Newberry at number five.
