** The New York Jets face the New England Patriots this Sunday with only one healthy running back and the team has added quarterback Tim Tebow to the backfield mix for this game.

** The San Francisco 49ers nip the Seattle Seahawks 13-6 in NFL action on Thursday.  The Niners are 5-2 while Seattle slips to 4-3.

** BCS number three Oregon goes on the road at Arizona State and gets a big 43-21 victory.   The Ducks remain unbeaten.

** Some local high school football action tonight has Class 6A number one Gainesville High School hosting Ocala Vanguard in a key district game.   Also, Newberry hosts Dixie County in an important Class 1A district game while Santa Fe is hosting North Marion.

**The Gator baseball team will have an open to the public scrimmage today at about 4:45pm at McKethan Stadium; batting practice will begin at around 3pm.

** The Gator volleyball and soccer teams are away this weekend for two games each; both teams play at Alabama tonight.
