** The San Francisco 49ers keep first place in the NFC West with a convincing 24-3 win over division rival Arizona on Monday Night Football.   The 49ers (6-3) got a great night from quarterback Alex Smith who was 18 of 19 for 232 yards and three touchdowns; Arizona falls to 4-4.

** Game time has been set for Florida’s Homecoming football game against Louisiana-Lafayette next week…kickoff will be at 12:21pm.

** The New York Yankees picked up contract options on veterans Robinson Cano, Curtis Granderson and pitcher David Aaardsma.

** The NCAA could pass sweeping reform changes today, reforms that could make coaches more accountable when their programs or athletes get in trouble with the NCAA.
