Three of the top four teams in the latest BCS standings are from the SEC. Alabama is at two, Georgia is at three.
Rounding out that top four are the Florida Gators, coming off a 23-0 win over Jacksonville State on Saturday. But that wasn’t why Florida moved up.
The fall of previous number one Kansas State and number two Oregon catapulted the Gators up in the BCS poll, and makes for an interesting scenario this weekend.
If the Gators can defeat Florida State on Saturday, they will likely be in a BCS bowl game. Which one is anyone’s guess. The right scenario could have Florida playing in the national title game; the worst could have the team fall as far as playing in the Chick-Fil-A bowl.
SEC fans across the world will also be keeping an eye on number one Notre Dame going up against the team that started the year at number one in the USC Trojans. If Notre Dame falls, the top three teams in the BCS will be from the Southeastern Conference, and Georgia and Alabama play each other in the conference title game.
As for the Gators, Florida head man Will Muschamp says this team did a great job bouncing back from last year.
It all comes down to Florida/Florida State, with kickoff at 3:30 right here on ESPN Radio 850/900 on Saturday.
