As sometimes happens this time of year, some college football coaches will be looking for new jobs…the Gator women’s basketball team drops a game and more in our Monday Sports News And Notes…
** Many college football coaches were fired over the weekend, including Auburn coach Gene Chizik, fired just two years after winning a national title. The Tigers went winless in the SEC this year and won only three games. Other coaches let go were Tom O’Brien at North Carolina State, Frank Spaziani at Boston College, Jon Embree at Colorado and Danny Hope at Purdue.
** The Gator volleyball team gets some good news; it will be hosting at least the first two rounds in the NCAA Tournament; Florida will host Conference USA champion Tulsa on Friday. Southern Conference champion College of Charleston will face Miami in the first game. Florida is the 14th seed for the NCAA Tournament.
** The Gator women’s basketball team loses its final game at a tournament in Las Vegas Sunday 74-58 to Arizona State; Florida is 5-2 on the year.
** Monday Night Football tonight has two struggling teams as Carolina faces Philadelphia.
